2015 MVD Pinewood Derby Rules
1. The car weight shall not exceed 5.0 ounces. The official race scale will be considered final.
2. The overall length of the car shall not exceed 7 inches.
3. The overall width of the car will not exceed 2¾ inches.
4. The car must have 1¾ inch clearance between the wheels.
5. The car must have 3/8 inch clearance underneath the body.
6. A BSA wood block must be used, you may flip it and cut your own slots if they are not straight. Slot distances will be checked.
7. Only BSA wheels will be used. You may sand and polish the rough spots, but the molding bumps on the outside edge must remain. No other modifications are allowed.
8. Each wheel will have a separate BSA axil. You may polish them and glue them in. No other modifications allowed.
9. Wheel bearings, washers, or bushings are prohibited.
10. The car must not ride on any type of springs.
11. All four wheels must make contact with a flat surface when car is at rest.
12. The car must be freewheeling, with no starting device.
13. No loose material of any kind, such as lead shot, may be used.
14. Only dry lubricants may be used, race officials will lube the car before and once during the race.
15. Details such as the steering wheel, driver, decals, painting, and interior detail are permissible as long as these details do not exceed the maximum length, width and weight specifications.
