MVD September 2015 Highlights

Here are the highlights from September 2015 Round Table
  • Charter Renewal & Annual Tour Permits
Tom Gregory and Julie Evans presented information on Charter Renewal. The challenge to all leaders 'GIT ER DONE' and avoid your unit from being dropped. The key is to start gathering information on your membership now, and jump into the recharter portal OCTOBER 1.

Remember - you only need 5 people to register a unit (Charter Organization Rep, Committee Chair, Unit Leader, Committee Member, and another leader.) Leaders and scouts can always be added, so don't hold up your recharter paperwork waiting for information.

Also in the recharter packets was the ANNUAL TOUR PERMIT. Current permits expire Sept. 30, so it is very important to fill this out now and get it submitted.  If you need the annual tour permit form, it is available on the MVD site under Resources/Links.

All paperwork goes to Julie Evans at the Scout Office. She is ready to help anyone who needs it. Here is here email link. JULIE EVANS EMAIL

  • Youth Protection
Many leaders are showing expired youth protection. Dick Kracht did a review of key points of youth protect. Many leaders were not aware that DIGITAL COMMUNICATION must also follow youth protection rules which means no one-on-one contact. Include somebody else on all email and text communication. Also remember, OA and Venture Scouts are considered youth until they turn 21.

Every leader has to take Youth Protection annually in Montana, which means your "taken date" must be in 2015 to allow you to be on the recharter. So - don't delay, take the class. If you want a trainer to come to your unit and train everyone live - just contact DAVE EUBANKS.
