Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (iOLS) - Innovative Format
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Venture Advisors. This course covers all the basic skills needed to keep Scout safe and teach them outdoor skills.
Many leaders skip this course because they have extensive outdoors experience and so just don't see the need to take it. Even though you may know how to light a lantern and start a fire, there are important program parts to the iOLS course that you may not know. We have an innovative solution that will let you "test out" of the field work of the iOLS course, and just take the program part of the course. Step 1 - Test Your Knowledge Read the iOLS Skills Evaluation. If you are a 3 or higher in the outdoor skills and materials in this document, then you can complete the rest of the requirements by taking the classroom. Step 2 - Attend iOLS - Program Training iOLS - Program will be taught over two Boy Scout Roundtable breakouts. These will be April & May. Bring your skills test (or take the test at Round Table) to document. Please sign-up to be part of this innovative approach to iOLS. We hope you can make time to come and check off the box for this training! Contact Dave Eubanks if you have questions @ 406-599-9369 or email. |
